Regular Visits
After the investment of time needed on the first and second visits, many patients become concerned that every visit will be of equal length.
In a word: no. Typical follow up visits can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. The length of time is dictated by the treatment needed and by what the goals of the patient are. If a patient chooses not to utilize the exercise therapy than visits will generally be much quicker.
The order of treatment is the same as the second visit:
- soft tissue work (stretching, myofascial release, IASTM, etc…)
- chiropractic adjustments to areas of restriction
- exercise therapy instruction
Building Blocks
Like a regular workout at the gym, each visit builds on the ones before. Miss a visit and we can lose the momentum necessary to make the needed changes. There is typically a higher frequency of visits during the first few weeks of care. This has to do with the fact that initially the changes we are trying to make may not hold or last as long as we would like. By having the patient come in more frequently initially we are able to get better and faster results. Dr Oliver is not a believer in high frequency care for long periods of time. He will not propose treatment plans that take several months or even a year. The vast majority of patients if they adhere to the treatment plan begin to notice significant improvements in the first 2-3 weeks of care. Once we get over the initial acute phase of care the need for increased visits lessens. The patient is given many things to do at home to care for themselves. If they follow this at home plan they tend to need less time in our office. Dr Oliver’s goal with all of his patients is to make them less dependent on him and become better able to care for themselves.
We recognize your time is valuable. We do everything possible to run on time and minimize the impact on your busy life.
